Religious Education

Religious Education contributes to the spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of all of pupils.

At Wychall Primary School, we provide RE for all pupils from our youngest learners through to Year 6.

We develop the pupil’s knowledge and understanding of the world’s major faiths, especially those represented in our school community. We believe that through the teaching of Religious Education (RE) we promote a rooted mutual respect for and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs and for those without faith. Religious education promotes challenging questions around the meaning of life, issues of right and wrong, beliefs and what it means to be human.

The UK has a rich and diverse heritage and in an era of globalisation and an increasingly interdependent world it’s vital that our pupils are able to reflect and nurture a crucial part of their culture and identity. We know that religion is an important area for many of our families and adds to the rich diversity of our community that we celebrate. We believe that religious education promotes critical thinking which will enable the pupils to question, evaluate and make their own judgements in later life.
